JOB PURPOSE
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Work with the Content team to develop and implement a tailored audience development strategy for each event, leveraging all platforms and touchpoints whilst conducting outreach – reporting on agreed metrics for success
- Contact and follow up leads to build relationships in order to grow databases and audiences across a range of events and portfolios
- Identify, foster and maintain personal relationships with target clients to develop key accounts and be the main point of contact for executives from target firms, ensuring periodic contact to build engagement to secure continued support and repeat attendance
- Manage a series of targeted databases and utilise the in-house CRM system to optimise demographic profiling and data insight requirements, whilst ensuring data is kept up-to-date and accurate in the CRM system and all other records on file
- Travel to events if required (globally); manage onsite elements from registration to roundtable sessions, facilitating networking and support the onsite team delivering a superior experience for all attendees; using the in-person events to solidify relationships and encourage repeat attendance
- Assist in managing elements of events as required, to support overall delivery and nurture key relationships to ensure a smooth customer experience
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in Content, Sales, Marketing and Operations to effectively leverage conference registrants to drive overall sales and speaker acquisition
KEY INTERFACES
External:
- Interact daily via email and phone with conference attendee leads, typically C-level execs and other VIPs, to invite them to specific events and engage them with the brand(s) more broadly
- Work with core sponsors to ensure their clients are suitably represented at the event and that they have received appropriate delegate lists in advance
- Communicate with all complimentary conference attendees to ensure they are ‘engaged’ and still plan to attend each event
- Work with professional organisations and associations to invite their members to attend conferences, usually by communicating with their President or Vice President
- Liaise with external lead database managers to ensure we have access to appropriate leads and the databases we are subscribed to
Internal:
- Meet with MDs and senior members of the Content function to devise an audience acquisition plan for each event, deconflict with the speaker acquisition plan, and communicate progress on a daily basis as the event approaches
- Liaise with Head of Marketing, Telecoms and other members of the Marketing function on relevant data sets and coordination with any planned marketing activity
- Liaise with Heads of Sales and Sales Managers and their key accounts on new audience needs, securing wish lists and supporting them in facilitating meetings with target customers
- Attend Project Team Meetings, having prepared an update on campaign progress including number of attendees versus target and detailed feedback from target market on the product
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
ESSENTIAL:
- Investor relations or audience development experience
- Experience in working on the phone and face-to-face with executives in a B2B environment
- Energy and focus to succeed in a high-volume workday
- Experience working in a team environment
- The ability to approach the job as one driven essentially by a sales mentality
- Ability to communicate at all levels with a sound understanding of organisational goals and objectives
- Ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision, to deliver organisational objectives and targets
- Analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to use data from multiple sources to gain insights and help drive decisions
- Track record of developing and maintaining strong relationships with senior-level executives
- Experience in a customer-facing role in a fast-paced environment
DESIRABLE:
- Knowledge/experience of the Telecoms market
- Second language skills would be an advantage
